14-Year-Old Boy Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Car On Long Island

A 14-year-old boy was seriously injured after being struck by a car while he was riding his bicycle in Lake Ronkonkoma, police said.

The bicyclist was transported by Ronkonkoma Fire Department Ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to Suffolk County police. 

Brian McCabe was driving a 2017 Honda southbound on Ronkonkoma Avenue near Willis Avenue, when he collided with the bicyclist from Ronkonkoma who was exiting Raynor Beach County Park at approximately 7 p.m., Friday, May 10, police said.

McCabe, 51, of Ronkonkoma, was not injured.

Both the vehicle and the bicycle were impounded for safety checks.
